		<description>yeah, i also think Bombadil and &#039;his neck of the woods&#039; we purposely meant to stick out. I mean, if you want something to be thought about and picked apart, you&#039;re going to want it to be noticed. Truely, i think saying that &quot;you can kill the branch but not the tree&quot; sums it all up. There are many types of evil. And some just happen.</description>

		<description>Yes, Bombadil, though his power and innocence is put beyond the lure of the Ring, but he is beyond any direct concern for it as well.  The Council of Elrond considers giving the Ring to him for safekeeping, but then thinks better of it.

Tolkien mentions analogously a &quot;vow of poverty&quot; in reference to Tom&#039;s detachment (Letters, page 179).  His is a life of praise.  True, he doesn&#039;t fit, but he is still necessary, as you say, to the full picture.</description>
